ETEC 652D Virtual Reality Instructional Design Group Project
Our group consisted of Mia Beatty, Melissa Kuntizer and myself. The purpose for this project was to design an instructional unit which would be built and implemented in Second Life (SL). In addition to what is expected with instructional design, we were challenged to create an immersive environment which would significantly simulate the real-world environment. Our project focused on teaching learners how to successfully progress through the TSA security checkpoint at an airport with carry-on baggage.
The instructional strategy included a multi-modal approach utilizing a variety of tools and techniques for a cognitive learning domain. There were six lesson events with formative assessments for each learning objective. The Dick & Carey systems approach was utilized while integrating Gagneʻs Nine Events of Instruction. Pre-assessment, post-assessment, and attitudinal surveys were also implemented.
Included here is a comprehensive design document with details.
