ETEC 622 Final Projec, AECT Standards & Feedback
Optimal Web-Based Instructional Unit
In this final project, I was tasked with designing a web-based instructional unit utilizing different tools and methods to deliver content. The objective was to focus on the logistics of strategically designing an online learning environment without having to develop all of the content. A website, facilitator's guide, and research narrative were developed to meet the final project requirements.
I used my locus of control to develop an online instructional for a virtual group management tool called Wiggio. Three delivery methods are utilized; a) web-based content; b) asynchronous; and c) synchronous. Multimedia and web-based communication are key components of the instructional design and strategy.
During the design and development stages, I received valuable feedback from my peers, teacher's assistant, and instructor which challenged me to clarify several essential components including: a) goal and objective; b) content; and c) timeline.

Feedback
The feedback below were provided during the formative development of my assignment and was used to improve the final project.
Instructor Feedback
Thanks for mentioning that you were able to get additional support from your classmates by brainstorming again. I am glad that you did it.
Your final project ideas are written clearly and easy to understand. You have defined your target audience quite well. I presume that this is based on your prior experience working with them, and not based on a survey or some formal needs assessment.
However, there are a few items that I'm not sure about:
1. Is your goal to modify the behavior of your clients by using technology so that they will send you items that you need; is it that they learn to use a wider range of technology in their own work so that they can increase their productivity; or are you wanting your clients to learn to use Wiggio effectively?
2. In your role, do you or your company have authority to require your clients to participate in this instructional module? In other words, how are you assured of participation?
3. I imagine that Wiggio has training materials that you can use. What are you thinking of for content that will be included in the PDF and video files?
4. Why is the module designed for 2-weeks? Is that the estimated time it would take for students to complete all the learning activities?
5. Is the skype 1-to-1 use appropriate given your busy work schedule? How many "students" would you have within the 2-week module period?
I think that you have conceived and focused your project well for this final assignment. I look forward to your final design, reading your facilitator's guide and sharing your project with the class in our last class meeting.
Teacher Assistant Feedback:
Your project is very well thought out, thorough, and I appreciate the references from resources you use thoroughout your writeup to support your statements.
I also like how you will have the learners take a survey and then further customize the module according to their needs.
I find it interesting that from your target audience description, the mostly female group are digital immigrants and not as familiar with WEB 2.0 tools as the fewer male learners. I once read that is generally the case - the article stated that females are generally quite proficient with social networking tools, posting quite frequently, whereas males are more likely to discover emerging tools and figure them out as opposed to discussing and posting pictures at social networking sites, etc. I don't know how true this is, but it probably is, generally speaking :).
I think your idea of Wiggio being more efficient amongst your various contacts is a great idea and I'm looking forward to seeing your module!
Peer Feedback:
Laureen you are my hero! Your subject is so thorough and well put together. It looks like you are ready to get your module ready for circulation. I am excited about Wiggio after reading about it more. Im following you on this project.
